Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix - - - NOW PLAYING!

JK. ROWLING’s Harry Potter lates movie the Order of the Phoenix now playing. Houston Chronicle said that this latest Harry Potter movie as the darkest, scariest and more intense among all the series.

The fun and games are over, the Order of the Phoenix is fairly far more better than the first four series. The movie is much tighter, meatier in script and better acting. In this latest Harry Potter movie, David Yates and screenwriter Michael Goldenberg has bring the new dimesions to the grown-up Harry Potter’s characters.



The movie is based on J.K Rowling’s Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, a 900 pages book, give or take. A realy hard work by the movie crew to translate the book into two hours and seven minutes screenplay. David Yates and screenwriter Michael Goldenberg make the film straight to the point without wasting too many comically scenes of Harry with his dreaded Dursleys, Harry’s foster parents.

The movie opens with an almost immediate attack on Harry and Dudley Dursley (Harry Melling) by two deadly Dementors in a dark, narrow, grimey tunnel. It adds to the oppressive, tense atmosphere, reflecting Harry’s increasingly tormented mental state and ever more threatening events throughout the movie.

Credits must be given to the cinematography works of Slawomir Idziak (Black Hawk Down) and the wonderful set and production design. In this movie, we will see a small different sets for Hogwarts from the past two films. What once seemed to an open and airy spaces of Hogwarts, now looks cramped and threatening.

As in the past series, the Order of the Phoenix also have new bad character that is opposite to what Harry, in a new teacher called Dolores Umbridge (Imelda Staunton). Umbridge is a fanatical disciple of the head-in-the-sand Minister of Magic, who believes Lord Voldemort (Ralph Fiennes) is dead and Professor Dumbledore (Michael Gambon) is planning to take over the Ministry of Magic.

The Order of the Phoenix is packed with wonderful camera angles, constantly moving perspective and wonderful special effects, but I do missed the comic moments that lighten up the movies a bit like in the earlier series. This latest movie is fully fast-paced adventure and psychological drama, and make it more of an adult oriented movie as a continuing of Harry’s coming-of-age.

Rupert Grint (Ron), and Emma Watson (Hermione), both now seem to fully command their roles as a results from their advancing age and experiences. Yates - who will direct the next Potter film - is at least as good as Mike Newell (Goblet of Fire) in directed them.
